POSITION SUMMARY

The Business Unit Manager (BUM) leads and manages the Livestock Business Unit organization and provides technical support to the customers with the highest level of professionalism and alignment with the Zoetis’ values and behaviors, to ensure achievement of its strategic goals and financial objectives, to provide unrivalled customer value and to develop the potential of its marketing, technical, and sales resources.

This position reports into the Country Manager, and leads the development of the Livestock strategy and performance of the BU in country.

The livestock BU includes the following businesses: Ruminants, Swine & Poultry

As an CLT member, the BUM actively participates and contributes to the development of the overall business strategy and performance of the subsidiary.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Financial Management

The BUM is accountable for financial leadership of the business unit:

Business Strategic Planning & Execution

Monitors, anticipates and responds to changing market conditions to proactively grow the business at the regional / business unit level. Manages the business based on keen market intelligence, in-depth knowledge of customers and insightful and creative strategic planning:

People Management and Development

The BUM needs to be an agent of change leader in his/her business; actively coaching and developing his/her people to strengthen both individual capabilities and the team’s ability to provide value to customers, implementing the Selling Sollution Model. He/she develops, motivates and inspires loyalty and commitment from the people he/she leads.

Builds and Maintains Internal and External Relationships & Communicates with Impact

The Livestock BUM needs to develop and consolidate internal and external relationships to be leveraged to drive business growth. He/she must effectively communicate within Zoetis to ensure clarity and alignment.

Ensure the development of a broad network of long-term relationships with key customers and other business stakeholders, such as, opinion leaders, key influencers, professional bodies, customer’s syndications, key players of the food industry chain, consultants, etc

Business Development

Aligned with the CLT, the Livestock BUM proactively manages and maximizes value from the entire product pipeline. Ensures the identification of successful, sustained development of co-promote, joint ventures and other business alliances.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS

Within CLT and Livestock teams in the Cluster/ International, Customer Care and commercial Operations team, CoE, and other departments as Regulatory Affairs, GMS (Global Manufacturing Supply), Customer Care, Finance, HR, L&D...

RESOURCES MANAGED

Financial Accountability: Aprox. 10M revenue

Supervision: Between 8-10 direct reports as total structure

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCIE:

Education:

Good knowledge of local market conditions and strong knowledge of Livesotck business

Bachelor’s Degree qualification required, preferably in relevant field; business administration, sales, Veterinary, science, and MBA is strongly appreciated

IT literate.

Able to use standard business software, communication tools and CRM systems

Languages:

Fluency in spoken and written local lenguage ( Portuguese) and English is a must. Proficiency in other languages will also be taken into consideration.

Professional experience:

Extensive, Sales and Technical experience required, with at least one manager position. P&L management experience. Experience working with, leading or managing cross-functional teams in developing and executing brand/business strategies, programs, systems, and/or tactics

experience managing teams and complex business

This is a people manager role and requires leadership skills and the ability to develop talent and having the potential to become a Country Manager. Frequent traveling in country to visit customer and coach the field force in their team and abroad for internal business meetings.

Location: Lisbon. This is a 50% a field position.
