Position Summary:
This position is responsible for the operational oversight of the animal facilities, animal care and cleaning operation personnel, and animal care program at the Suzhou facilities. The facility operation manager is responsible for facility operations, regulatory compliance to animal welfare and use, EHS, and GMP, and supporting required studies and testing.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
• Coordinate, manage, and allocate animal housing space, animal care and cleaning operation personnel, and equipment comprising the animal care program.
• Lead and facilitate the initiation, revision, and implementation of standard operating procedures.
• Assure and maintain the bio-security of facility operations.
• Procure equipment, suppliers, and service required for facility operations.
• Partner with principal investigators to support required studies and testing.
• Lead and support the forecasting annual budgetary, staffing, supply, and equipment needs.
• Communicate effectively with facility personnel and project teams to anticipate and address animal facility maintenance, repair, renovation, and construction needs.
• Provide periodic (& ad-hoc) updates on the work progress and required performance index of facility.
• Ensure that equipment service agreements and capital proposals are congruent with facility needs.
• Support the line manager.
• Perform duties of subordinates as needed in times of facility closures and/or personnel absences.
Requirements:
• Master degree, in Veterinary Medicine, Animal Science, and/or Laboratory Animal.
• At least 8 years’ experience in a laboratory animal facility
• At least 3 years of supervisory experience
• Knowledge of local and national regulations governing use of animals in testing, research, biosecurity/biosafety, and training including husbandry, research techniques, management principles
• Demonstrated interpersonal skills to direct work of subordinates, work with the internal stakeholder, and ability to multi-task.
• English communication skills, be able to use English as daily work language
