We are excited to announce a one-year secondment opportunity for the role of Area Business Manager (ABM). This is a pivotal, field-based leadership position that plays a key role in driving the success of our business. As an ABM, you will lead a team of Account Managers, Senior Account Managers, and Veterinary Consultants (where applicable), delivering outstanding results by implementing business strategies and marketing programs.
Purpose of the Role
In this role, you will be responsible for driving sales growth and market share within your designated area. You will work closely with your team to develop and execute strategic account plans, ensuring alignment with centrally developed marketing initiatives. By fostering strong, long-term relationships with customers—including veterinary practices, farmers, and online pharmacies—you will help establish Zoetis as a trusted partner and industry leader.
Key Responsibilities
1. Leadership and Strategy Execution
- Lead, coach, and inspire a high-performing team to achieve and exceed sales targets.
- Develop and maintain effective account plans for key customers, ensuring alignment with business objectives and marketing strategies.
- Analyze sales performance and market trends to identify opportunities for growth and improvement.
- Conduct regular field visits, providing hands-on support and coaching to your team.
2. Field Force Effectiveness
- Drive excellence in sales execution by promoting the use of the Solution Selling model.
- Ensure team members effectively utilize tools like TouchPoint to track performance and manage customer relationships.
- Provide clear direction and performance expectations, enabling your team to thrive.
- Monitor and manage key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure optimal coverage and frequency with target customers.
3. People Development
- Actively manage the performance of your team, providing regular feedback, coaching, and development opportunities.
- Work closely with Learning & Development, Product Managers, and National Veterinary Managers to implement tailored training and development plans.
- Use formal performance management processes when necessary to address gaps and drive improvement.
- Foster a positive and collaborative team culture, promoting engagement and motivation.
4. Customer and Stakeholder Relationships
- Build and maintain strong, mutually beneficial relationships with key customers and stakeholders.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Marketing, Technical, and VetSupport, to deliver comprehensive solutions to customers.
- Act as a key point of contact between your team and the broader business, ensuring effective communication and alignment on strategic goals.
5. Compliance and Operational Excellence
- Ensure high standards of business conduct, adhering to all relevant policies, including Pharmacovigilance, Global Vet Policy, and local codes of practice.
- Manage the allocated budget responsibly, ensuring efficient use of resources and adherence to financial controls.
- Ensure accurate and timely recording of business activities in the CRM system.

- Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and translate it into actionable insights.
Experience and Qualifications:
- Significant experience as a successful field sales representative, preferably in the animal health or related industry.
- Previous experience in managing remote teams is essential.
- A degree-level qualification is desirable, and a sales qualification (e.g., AMTRA) is an advantage.
- Proficiency in using business software and CRM tools.
Travel Requirements:
This role involves a high frequency of travel within your designated region and occasional visits to head office.
