The Business Unit Manager (BUM) for Livestock is responsible for the full P&L ownership and results of the Livestock Business Unit in Chile. As a senior leader, the BUM plays an active role in the Chilean Leadership Team, representing the Livestock business and contributing to the overall country vision and strategy.
This role is a leader-of-leaders, responsible for developing and coaching a team of sales managers and technical professionals, ensuring the execution of the commercial strategy, maximizing customer value, and driving sustainable, profitable growth. The BUM will align business plans with Zoetis’ global objectives, foster cross-functional collaboration, and build a high-performance culture that lives Zoetis' Core Beliefs and Leadership Competencies.
As a key leader within Livestock, the BUM models and communicates the importance of conducting business in a manner consistent with Zoetis Core Believes.

- Business Strategy & Execution
- Lead the development and execution of the short- and long-term strategic plans for the Livestock Business Unit.
- Align BU strategies with Zoetis global objectives, local market needs, and customer insights.
- Translate strategy into clear, actionable plans and execution cycles, ensure high-quality implementation, and regularly review progress during quarterly cycle meetings.
- Identify growth opportunities across species, segments and geographies and deploy resources accordingly.
- Ensure strategic alignment with Marketing, Technical Services, Finance, L&D, Regulatory, Supply Chain, and VMRD.
- P&L and Performance Management
- Manage the BU P&L, ensuring revenue and profitability targets are met or exceeded.
- Monitor key business KPIs including sales performance, market share, customer penetration, pricing, and resource utilization.
- Lead regular business reviews with customers to assess performance and course-correct where needed.
- Ensure budget discipline and adherence to T&E policies and compliance regulations.
- Commercial Excellence & Customer Focus
- Drive a culture of customer centricity and demand generation through the Zoetis Sales Model and Solution Selling approach.
- Promote field force effectiveness through the use of CRM tools and field excellence frameworks (e.g., Touch Points, call cycle tracking, and customer segmentation) to strengthen customer engagement and ensure optimal use of resources.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, KOLs, distributors, and producer associations by actively participating in meetings and influencing stakeholder preference through strategic engagement.
- Partner with marketing to develop value-added services, unique customer offerings, and product launch strategies.
- People Leadership & Talent Development
- Assess and adapt the current and future organizational structure to effectively support strategic goals and business growth.
- Lead, coach, and empower a high-performing team of sales and technical professionals, ensuring clear objectives, strong collaboration, and accountability for results.
- Attract, retain, and develop diverse and high-potential talent pipelines aligned with Zoetis’ leadership expectations and culture.
- Utilize performance management tools and Individual Development Plans (IDPs) to foster continuous development, engagement, and robust succession planning.
- Ensure effective onboarding and deliver ongoing training and targeted coaching to accelerate performance, strengthen capabilities, and build leadership readiness across the team.
- Foster a culture where colleagues take ownership of their development, feel safe to share ideas, challenge constructively, learn from mistakes, and receive and offer continuous feedback.
- Functional Collaboration & Change Leadership
- Champion collaboration across functions, teams, and species to deliver cohesive customer experiences.
- Lead the implementation of change management initiatives, ensuring clear communication and team engagement.
- Create an inclusive, high-performance environment in line with Zoetis values and DE&I principles.
- Actively proposes and executes colleague survey action plans towards a high-performance team’s culture.
- Ensures Global Vet Policies, FCPA, corporative and local policies are appropriately followed by individuals and the team.
- As a key member of the Zoetis Chile Leadership Team, the BUM is expected to actively contribute to the overall country strategy, foster cross-functional collaboration, and serve as a cultural ambassador of Zoetis' Core Beliefs and the Zoetis Chile Social Contract.
Background & experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Commercial, Veterinary or Biology Science, or a related scientific discipline.
- An MBA or other advanced degree in business or a related field is considered a strong asset.
- Over 10 years of commercial experience, including a minimum of 5 years in leadership roles with direct team management and development.
- Proven track record of successfully executing business strategies and consistently delivering strong results, preferably within the animal health or agriculture industry.
- Solid understanding of Zoetis products and the broader animal health sector.
- Demonstrated strength in leading teams, developing talent, and driving collaboration across functions.
- Strong financial acumen, with the ability to manage budgets, forecasting, and resource allocation effectively.
- Fluent in Spanish, with advanced proficiency in spoken and written English.
- Excellent communication skills—oral, written, and interpersonal—with the ability to influence and engage at all levels.
