Manufacturing Technician (GMS Projects Support)
12-month contract
POSITION SUMMARY
To support and perform commissioning, qualification and validation activities of new GMP manufacturing processing areas.
To assist in the production plans for the timely and cost-effective production of Animal Health products.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Meet Environment Health and Safety requirements by adhering to safe operations through:
- Awareness training
- Assistance with safety audits
- Timely hazard reporting
- Accident and incident reporting
- Housekeeping of work areas
- Risk assessments & management
Achieve manufacturing project commissioning, qualification and validation requirements by:
- Performing all activities including but not limited to:
- Preparation and approval of new GMP documentation (eg. SOPs / BPSs / forms / Risk Assessments)
- Participate in project team meetings as needed
- Perform commissioning, qualification and validation tasks as needed
- Participate in all GMP audits for new products and perform follow up actions as needed
- Establish training requirements for production staff for new and changed processes
- Implement training plans to ensure smooth introduction of new products and processes
- Provide technical assistance for manufacturing operations for new processes
Achieve production targets by:
- Performing all production activities including but not limited to:
- Solution preparations
- Plant and equipment cleaning and sterilization
- Monitoring of cultures in small & large scale bio-reactors
- Processing of culture broths including separation and clarification
- Downstream processing and purification of antigens
- Aseptic seed work
- Aseptic manipulations
- Transfer & storage of antigens
- Cleaning and sanitation of manufacturing areas & support areas
- Vaccine Formulation
- Filling operations
- Packaging operations
- Providing technical assistance and troubleshooting for in-process fermentation / manufacturing issues
- Assisting the local leadership team in maintaining, assessing and reviewing process and yield control charts
- Participating and assisting in process and facility improvement projects
- Completion of routine business processes including:
- MRP transactions of material issuing, receipting & ordering
- Compliance to Calibration, Corrective & Preventive Maintenance programs
- Process monitoring and trending
- Performing general departmental duties including but not limited to:
- QC samples to the lab
- Routine water sampling
- Maintenance of stock of laboratory reagents
- Plant checks
- Environmental monitoring
Achieve manufacturing finance targets to ensure profitable operations through:
- Timely completions of month end production
- Executing cycle counts, participation in stocktakes and performing accurate material issues, receipts and orders
Meet Quality and GMP requirements by:
- Executing tasks & recording of activities to GMP compliance
- Ensuring processes are completed & maintained to acceptable standards
- Maintaining SOPs, BPSs, forms and risk assessments within review period and effective status
- Participating in external and internal audits
- Assisting with deviation investigations and CAPA planning
- Preparation and assistance with timely submission & completion of change control requests
- Conducting housekeeping audits of antigen manufacturing areas
Meet other Regulatory body guidelines including:
- Handling and transfer of Biosecurity materials to acceptable standards and permit conditions
- Compliance & adherence to acceptable standards
- Participation in external and internal audits
- Conducting housekeeping audits of manufacturing areas
Other duties as directed by Site Management

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE |
|
· Tertiary qualification in Microbiological Science, Engineering or related discipline is desirable · Ability to read and speak English. · Workplace GMS, EHS & Biosecurity implementation experience · Large scale manufacturing experience working in a GMP environment and aseptic operations is highly desirable · Fermentation, downstream processing and vaccine formulation experience is desirable
