Position summary
Based in Parkville, Melbourne, the incumbent is responsible for leading, managing and overseeing manufacturing at the Melbourne & Wellington sites. You will be responsible for achieving operational goals including productivity, quality, cost, delivery, safety and colleague engagement requirements while maintaining strict adherence to relevant regulatory, corporate, other government and local regulations. In addition, you will be responsible for ensuring the proper operational controls, metrics, procedures, and personnel are in place to effectively grow the organisation for financial and operational efficiencies. This role is an on site role - 5 days per week.
Key responsibilities:
- Assists the Site leader in creating the three to five-year vision and pipeline of activities to grow the organization.
- Train, manage, develop and provide leadership to department managers/supervisors in manufacturing in the application of practical operations planning and control techniques toward higher levels of performance while providing an environment that encourages change and teamwork.
- Responsible for efficient and effective warehouse operations for Melbourne site in ensuring incoming and outgoing materials management integrate with manufacturing operations.
- Sets performance objectives for the manufacturing organization that focuses on short-term, as well as long-term business objectives.
- Review staffing requirements, personnel allocations, and organizational structure to not only meet today’s requirements, but those of future growth.
- Initiate capital requirements for all manufacturing areas and ensures on time delivery and cost of the project.
- Ensures production goals are achieved including productivity, quality, cost, delivery, safety and morale requirements
- Develop and achieve annual and quarterly operating budgets to meet company objectives with risk mitigation plans in place.
- Responsible for year-on-year standard time reductions through continuous and quality improvement initiatives.
- Evaluate and implement meaningful metrics within manufacturing and actively contributes to other cross-functions that impact the manufacturing team.
- Represent manufacturing on cross-functional site committees such as validation, change control, quality Review, EHS, emergency planning, technical and product recall among others.
- Be assigned as the Production Authority on the APVMA License to Manufacture Vet Products
- Provide leadership in Industrial Enterprise agreement
- Attend and represent the Melbourne Site at ANZ governance meetings
- In partnership with the Strategic & PMO lead, oversee the successful implementation of new product introductions (NPI) and all critical & major projects at site level
- In conjunction with the Site Leader, be mutually accountable for Quality and Volume performance at the Melbourne and Wellington sites
- Partner with GMT for successful transfer of new product into manufacturing
Education and experience
- BS/BA in Business, Engineering, or related field with prior experience in a biological/ pharmaceutical manufacturing environment with increasing levels of responsibility.
- Three plus years of experience performing similar work in a GMP/ regulated environment with key focus in manufacturing operations or Quality management.
- Prior experience managing in a biological and pharmaceutical manufacturing environment with increasing levels of leadership responsibility
- Thorough knowledge of GMP and ISO requirements in the Pharmaceutical field.
- Experience in Lean, Six Sigma manufacturing techniques, APVMA, TGA or EU compliance, and process improvement.
- Knowledge of finance as it relates to budgeting including monitoring and controlling quarterly annual expense budgets, as well as operational absorption for both labor and materials.
- Demonstrated successful interactions with domestic and international Regulatory authorities including but not limited to APVMA, TGA, VMD and ACVM
- Strong commitment to Product Quality, Customer Supply and Operational Excellence
- Double vaccinated with Covid – 19
