POSITION SUMMARY
The Business Development Manager is responsible for accelerating growth in new markets and win tenders across Maghreb, Libya, and UMOA, with a focus on poultry, ruminants, and companion animals. The role will own market entry execution, distributor build-out, tender planning and bid governance, and commercial discipline to deliver first launches and scalable, profitable growth.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
New market entry & growth execution
- Lead market entry plans for Libya and UMOA: opportunity assessment, route-to-market, launch sequencing, and first commercial wins.
- Conduct structured country scans (macro environment, market access, species dynamics) and convert insights into actionable business cases and priorities.
- Build and manage a robust pipeline of partners and customers (e.g., distributors, clinics, integrators).
- Select, evaluate, and onboard distributors; drive activation, coverage, and execution excellence.
- Define and manage price corridors to balance competitiveness and value capture; improve net price realization.
- Create and execute launch plans and demand creation in collaboration with A&P / marketing and cross-functional partners.
Tender strategy, readiness & bid management
- Map tender calendars, eligibility requirements, and stakeholder ecosystems; maintain a forward-looking tender pipeline.
- Own dossier readiness and tender submission preparation (documentation, compliance, coordination).
- Run disciplined go / no-go stage-gates, including governance of price floors and win-rate logic; ensure bid quality and profitability protection.
- Lead bid pricing and post-award execution management, ensuring delivery vs commitments and performance tracking.
Distributor governance, profitability & operational discipline
- Establish and manage distributor SLAs; ensure strong post-award and launch execution (service levels, responsiveness, compliance).
- Govern rebate ladders / tier structures and ensure transparent, compliant application and ROI discipline.
- Drive inventory hygiene (target ≤ 3 months by year-end) and lead monthly stock portal reviews to protect product availability, expiry risk, and working capital.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Business Administration, Veterinary Science, or Animal Science.
Experience:
- Demonstrated business development experience in animal health (or closely related B2B healthcare/agri/vet markets), across multi-country territories.
- Hands-on experience with new market entry, distributor/channel development, and commercial launches.
- Strong exposure to tenders: pipeline management, dossier readiness, bid governance, and post-award execution.
- Solid commercial fundamentals: pricing discipline, net sales management, trade terms/rebates, and working-capital/inventory management.
TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIREMENTS
- Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and negotiation abilities (distributors, tender counterparts) with clear value/profit guardrails.
- Strong stakeholder management across internal functions and external partners.
- Knowledge of regulatory frameworks in animal health.
- Proficiency in digital marketing tools and data analytics.
- Excellent presentation skills
- Fluent written and spoken French and English (Arabic is a plus).
PHYSICAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- Valid driver’s license and passport and ability to travel frequently within the assigned market(s).
- Able to travel international for business meetings.
- May be requested to work extended hours and weekends for special events and/or training.
