Role Purpose

The National Veterinary Manager provides technical expertise and veterinary support to the Business Unit, customers, external stakeholders and the wider Zoetis team. They ensure our scientific resources and technical activities deliver value to our customers, giving Zoetis a major differentiator and creating significant competitive advantage.

The person in role is required to develop partnerships across the business in order to deliver upon programmes and strategies – specifically with commercial Sales teams, Marketing, Technical teams, Key Accounts, Commercial Operations, Learning & Development and HR.

Main Responsibilities

Strategy & Planning

· Contribute to the Business Unit’s strategic plans made by the Business Unit Director and Leadership Team. Base input on comprehensive knowledge of customers and markets

· Contribute to the development and delivery of value added service activities such as CPD courses

· Contribute to the technical strategy in conjunction with the Marketing strategy to support the Business Unit to achieve and exceed sales targets.

· Translate strategy into tactical delivery for Veterinary colleagues

· Maintain current knowledge of the market, industry trends and competition.

· Play an active role and provide veterinary insight at all necessary company meetings, events and training.

· Play a full role in Launch planning, strategy and implementation.

Customer activities

· Provide high level technical support and consultancy to customers

· Undertake leadership activities that enable the team to be productive and effective.

· Deliver strategic messages and marketing programmes to the field force that fit into the context of the Solution Selling model

Business Unit Support & Relationships

· Support marketing teams at a country and GAT level.

· Work closely with technical and L&D on the delivery of high quality technical training for Veterinary colleagues and Account Managers

· Partner with the CA Veterinary Lead, National Sales Manager , Area Business Managers, technical teams and L&D to ensure the delivery of quality veterinary activities; clinic presentations, technical advice, KOL plans & service requests.

· Collaborate with technical managers to provide input for studies, technical related activities and tools.

· Develop and drive Outcomes research studies in line with the strategy.

· Work with the Pharmacovigilance (PV) and technical team to ensure PV related situations are communicated across all team members as well as supporting the PV team when required

· Contribute to the success of the business unit by role modelling best practice with colleagues, proactively welcoming ideas, sharing successes and enabling the team to do the same across the business

· Support the Marketing team with product forecasting using market knowledge and veterinary insight.

· Partner with the Corporate team in defining and executing clinical plans across the corporate groups.

Compliance

· Maintain high standards of business conduct and compliance, adhering particularly to Pharmacovigilance Policy, Global vet Policy, Zoetis values, travel & expenses policy and local codes of practise

· Ensure the recording of accurate business records.

· Communicate effectively, sharing account information with other stakeholders

Key Skills

· Advanced technical knowledge and veterinary skills.

· A commercial aptitude; understands business management and financials

· Strong communication skills, can translate technical information in clear and concise ways

· Customer centricity with a strong service orientation

· Exceptional relationship management, interpersonal skills and influencing abilities

EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE

· Degree in Veterinary Medicine is required as well as a registered MRCVS.

· Certificate of specialisation is preferred but not essential.

· A minimum of 3 years companion animal veterinary experience is required.

· IT literate – capable of using standard business software and communication tools

· UK market experience essential including work in the ZVC role

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

· Current passport and valid driving licence.

· Occasional foreign travel.

· Regular attendance in Head Office as determined by the Business
