The ANZ Quality Platform Lead is a senior strategic role within the Zoetis APAC Quality organisation. The position carries two complementary mandates: setting and governing the overall Quality strategy across Australia and New Zealand; and providing direct Quality leadership for the Melbourne manufacturing site.

The role reports to the Global Quality Platform Leader and is accountable for the collective quality performance of all ANZ manufacturing operations. It provides functional quality oversight of Site Quality Leaders in Rutherford, Melbourne and Wellington, with quality system performance, GMP compliance, and regulatory readiness accountable to this role under a defined functional authority model.

The ANZ Quality Platform Lead is the highest quality authority in ANZ — representing the Zoetis quality position to senior site leadership, global quality leadership, and regulators. The role champions a quality-first culture by influencing at leadership level, embedding expectations through the Site Quality Leaders, and holding them accountable for performance against defined quality objectives.

As a member of the ANZ Leadership Team and the APAC Quality Platform network, the role shapes the strategic direction of quality across the region, aligns ANZ quality priorities with global Zoetis Quality objectives, and represents ANZ quality performance at APAC and Global Quality Councils. The role chairs the ANZ Quality Council — a governance forum that brings together all ANZ Site Quality Leaders to drive alignment, escalate risk, and accelerate continuous improvement across the network.

People leadership is a core expectation of this role, not an ancillary function. Building a high-performing ANZ quality leadership community, developing future quality talent, and establishing robust succession pipelines are accountabilities of equal weight to the strategic and regulatory dimensions of the position.

Given the global nature of the role, regular engagement with quality colleagues, governance bodies, and leadership teams based in Ireland, the United States, and other global locations is an inherent feature of this position. The organisation supports flexible working arrangements, and the role holder will manage their schedule to meet these engagement requirements, which will periodically fall outside standard Australian business hours.

Education and experience

1. Bachelor's degree in Science or Engineering is required; a postgraduate qualification (Master's or PhD) in a relevant discipline — including life sciences, pharmaceutical sciences, microbiology, biochemistry, or engineering — is strongly preferred and reflects the depth of scientific and regulatory thinking this role demands

2. Minimum 10–15 years of progressive quality experience in pharmaceutical, biologics, or animal health manufacturing, with demonstrated career progression into roles of increasing scope and accountability.

3. At least 5 years in a senior quality leadership role with direct accountability for other Quality Leaders or a multi-site / regional quality function; experience leading through others, not just alongside them, is essential.

4. Demonstrated track record of operating at a strategic quality governance level — setting quality direction across a network of sites, sponsoring QMS transformation, and owning quality outcomes at a regional or platform level. Candidates whose experience is limited to single-site quality execution will not meet the requirements of this role.

5. Demonstrated experience engaging with APVMA, TGA, US-FDA, or equivalent regulatory authorities at a senior level; experienced in representing the organisation in regulatory interactions, inspections, and strategic variation submissions.

6. Conversant with Australian and international GMP frameworks including PIC/S and relevant ICH guidelines (Q8, Q9, Q10, Q12); able to apply regulatory frameworks with judgment, proportionality, and a clear understanding of regulatory intent — not merely regulatory text.

7. Experience developing and owning variation reporting strategies and proactively engaging regulators to shape outcomes, not solely to respond to them.

8. Experience in biologics, ABI manufacturing, or specialised platform manufacturing is highly desirable, given the Melbourne site's transformational roadmap and expanding manufacturing scope.

9. Demonstrated ability to provide quality leadership through periods of significant site growth, technical transfer, new product introduction, or capability expansion — maintaining compliance integrity while enabling business momentum.

10. Proven people leader with a demonstrated record of building high-performing quality teams, developing leadership capability in direct reports, and establishing succession pipelines for critical quality roles.

11. Strong executive communication and influencing skills; able to engage credibly and persuasively with senior internal stakeholders, global quality leadership, and regulatory authorities.

12. Experienced in presenting quality performance, risk positions, and strategic recommendations to executive and board-level forums; comfortable with ambiguity and able to distil complex quality and regulatory matters into clear, decision-ready narratives.

13. Familiarity with quality management methodologies including Six Sigma, Lean, ICH Q10, and risk-based thinking; applies these as strategic tools for organisational improvement and cost of goods optimisation — not simply as operational frameworks.

14. Demonstrates a data-driven mindset: uses quality metrics and trend analysis to drive strategic decisions, not just report on them.
