POSITION SUMMARY

This field-based role covers the Johannesburg East Rand in Gauteng and the Mpumalanga Province and is responsible for growing sales of designated products within an agreed customer portfolio, primarily veterinary practices and wholesalers.

The purpose of the Sales Representative role is to build strong, trusted customer relationships, understand customer needs, identify growth opportunities, and deliver relevant product and business solutions that drive sustainable sales and long-term value. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

• Translate scientific and clinical evidence into clear, relevant discussions with customers.

• Confidently position products by explaining how their features, benefits, and clinical evidence address identified treatment challenges and demonstrate how products may support improved patient outcomes.

• Build and maintain strong, trusted relationships with customers by understanding customer needs and providing relevant product and business solutions.

• Identify and develop sales and growth opportunities.

• Deliver sustainable sales performance and create long-term customer value.

• Align account plans with marketing programs and management direction, using territory and customer analysis to support sales targets.

• Execute customer calls against agreed KPIs, coverage and frequency, with clear objectives, accurate information and appropriate follow-up.

• Maintain accurate CRM records for customer activity, customer information and next steps.

• Share relevant information, best practice and ideas that contribute to team success.

• Maintain high standards of business conduct and compliance, including adherence to the Pharmacovigilance Policy, Global Vet Policy, Zoetis values, travel and expenses policy, and applicable local codes of practice.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• A degree in the animal health field, diploma or degree in veterinary nursing, or a related field is preferred.

• Valid driver’s license & driving experience.

• Experience as a sales representative in the veterinary or animal-health industry, or experience as a veterinary professional, is a major advantage.

• Where veterinary or animal-health sales or professional experience is not available, pharmaceutical-industry sales experience will be considered the next most relevant background, particularly where the candidate has sold technical products to healthcare professionals.

TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIREMENTS

• Strong understanding of veterinary science, animal health, disease areas, pathophysiology, clinical presentation and treatment options.

• Ability to learn, retain and apply detailed scientific, technical and product information.

• Ability to translate complex technical and clinical evidence into clear, accurate and practical messages for veterinary professionals.

• Product knowledge covering features, benefits, clinical evidence, pricing, competition, market trends and relevant services.

• Strong account planning, territory management, customer segmentation and customer/territory analysis skills.

• Consultative selling and solution-selling capability, including the ability to identify opportunities and support sales growth.

• Effective key account management skills.

• Strong verbal and written communication, influencing and negotiation skills.

• IT literacy, including the ability to use standard business software, CRM platforms and communication tools.

PHYSICAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS

• Frequent travel within the territory, covering the Johannesburg East Rand in Gauteng and Mpumalanga Province.

• Travel outside the territory may be required from time to time.

• Manage a geographically extensive territory with customer coverage scheduled according to agreed plans, including coverage cycles of four to six weeks where applicable.

• The role may require extended hours and weekend work for special program events and/or training.

• Successful candidate will be required to reside in Gauteng with proximity to the East Rand.
